We are thrilled to announce registrations are now open for two fabulous online learning opportunities developed and facilitated by Dr Leslie Maniotes.

The first, a quick course over 8 weeks titles Project Based Learning with Inquiry and Research and the second, the popular Guided Inquiry Design Institute, online for the first time since its inception and development at the Rutgers University CISSL Summer Institutes (2012-2020) titled Guided Inquiry Design Institute (Online).

Meet the Facilitator: Dr Leslie Maniotes

Dr. Leslie Maniotes is an educational leader dedicated to providing a high quality education for all learners. Leslie is committed to building capacity in others by providing high quality professional development through workshops, coaching, facilitating professional learning communities, and implementing effective instructional designs.

Leslie has a great passion for student engaged learning. Her PhD research on Third Space adds the watermark of deep student engagement to Guided Inquiry Design.With over two decades in public education, she continually seeks to improve schools for students and teachers. She has earned National Board Certification and has over a decade of classroom experience. She holds a M.Ed in reading and has served as a K-12 literacy specialist, Reading Recovery teacher, and instructional coach in urban and rural environments. A certified administrator and school leader, Leslie studied urban educational leadership at the University of Denver. Leslie conducts training for educational leaders to create systemic change to improve and build inquiry practice through Guided Inquiry Design®.

Leslie has extensive experience working with teachers, librarians, and administrators and has designed and led workshops, institutes, keynotes, conferences, and teacher advancement training. Leslie has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in the School of Education at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Leslie is an experienced instructional designer holding a Ph.D. in Instructional Curriculum in the Content Areas (ICCA) from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She teamed up with award winning international scholar in the field of library and information systems, Dr. Carol Kuhlthau, and top museum educator from the National Air and Space Museum, Ann Caspari, to develop Guided Inquiry and the Guided Inquiry Design Framework that is the foundation of her consulting and professional development workshops.

She is a published author of numerous articles and co-author of the books Guided Inquiry: Learning in the 21st Century and a series of four Guided Inquiry Design titles.

This course provides a clear road map to designers of Project Based Learning units (teachers and their librarian partners or curriculum staff). Learn how to design and guide the middle part of the process where students learn from their inquiry and research.

The Guided Inquiry Design Institute (Online) will move teams of educators through the theory and into the practice of using the Guided Inquiry Design framework to design a unit of study for a course in any content area.
